Title:
Edgar S. Peissart Material
Scope & Content:
This collection of material written by, or about EDGAR S. PEISSART, who was once a member of the Koreshan Unity, consists of typewritten documents, flyers and broadsides. Peissart apparently belonged to a number of religious groups. An Internet search found a list of members of a Mennonite Church in Milford Township, Lehigh County Pennsylvania. It showed his name, joining in July 1893, withdrawn in 1894. The search also found an article (cf. AC—0167) about a Shaker community in Florida. Peissart apparently tried to join the group, but was rejected because he "...evidently hoped to set up a little kingdom here with himself as leader."

The bulk of the collection consists of articles written by Peissart claiming that he is the true successor to Cyrus Teed. One shows a picture of Teed fading in the background, with Peissart's picture coming forward.. In another, the article is written by a "Swami Ejjarropczar" and someone (Harry Manley??) wrote Peissart's name in. The article attacks Henry Ford and William Jennings Bryan.
