Scope & Content:
This daybook provides a valuable insight into the everyday activities and expenses of the time period. The first page begins with the introduction and date and continues, "Mother (Evelyn Bubbett) receives a widow's pension of $36.00 a month from the Government. It had been $40.00, but was recently resuced 10%. She has been getting this since father died — Aug. 27, 1924. Before then he turned into the Koreshan Unity his pension, since his joining — 1888. The daybook continues with individual entries, such as "2 gals.gas, (Mother to Bonita Beach, .41" and "Dinner (Miami) .35" Familiar names occur in the entries, such as "Rec'd from Etta [Silverfriend] on acct. for K.U. Bow and wheat 5.00"(?), "Insurance for Father's watch to Roy — .15" (LeRoy Bubbett), "On acct trip to Miami with Frank Wilson. Friday, Jan 25, 1935". "To Etta toward Alafae's [Stephens] fare to Detroit — 5.00". The last entry appears to be in January, 1935.
