Title:
Dear Emma — Jesse Teed to Emma Norton — Unadilla New York to Chicago — November 14, 1891
Scope & Content:
Jesse writes that he is at "Amelia's". He speaks of his travels and tells Emma, "...you would be surprised at the growth of Teedville." He goes on to say, "There is much speculation in these parts in relation to Cyrus `Mary Amandy' (quotes are his) is the most outspoken in her interpretation. You know she is related to Edgar R. Baily. Cyrus will know what I allude to. One thing, was a letter by Cyrus that was teribly (sic) unpardonable. You know Aunt Mary's position relating to Cyrus is that time will tell. Baily is really the only hitching post to which all point." He then continues to speak of local opposition to Cyrus and his beliefs.
