Dear Emma — Letter to Emma Norton — Newburgh NY to Chicago IL.
Scope & Content:
Jesse Teed has arrived back in New York after visiting Chicago. He explains that his son, Oliver (Cyrus' brother) lost his money on the return trip. He speaks of Oliver's belief in Koreshanity and goes on to mention that he enjoyed his stay in Chicago, but that he felt in the way. He speaks of Emma's uncle's house on the Hudson river. The letter continues on the 18th with an account of his visit to a house billed as Washington's headquarters. He closes with some personal news (a wedding back in Utica etc.).
