Gustave Damkohler represented the Koreshan in many dealings with the State of Florida in their initial entry into the state. He wrote to Tallahassee on a number of occasions seeking information on "unsold State Land". He mentions that he is acting as a "...friendly agent for a big body of people of the far North of U.S. and Canada who are willing to make their home down here in earnest..."
