Title:
Dear Sister — Amelia from Unadilla New York
Scope & Content:
This letter, signed "Amelia" was written to Emma Norton after the death of Amelia's husband, Charles Teed. Amelia's emotional instability comes through. She speaks of her "...dear Charley" and says "...his name seems so sacred to me." She speaks of her wish to have died with him, but that she knows that she must care for the children. Amelia also speaks of "Father" and it is not specified if she is speaking of her own father or Jesse Teed, whose wife would have died two years earlier. However, Amelia speaks of "Father" living with his wife for 57 years —— Jesse and Sarah were married for 49 years. The letter closes with Amelia's wish to see Emma to hear from Netta (Assume Teed).
