Description:
Group of nine people. The only one identified is William Acuff, (marked by an "x") and 'Moreland' (It is unclear which Moreland), written in pencil on the front. The picture is said to have been taken on Mound Key. It shows the group with what are identified as 'Spanish Bayonet' flowers and the Banana Plantation in the background. (cf. PH—331 for a photo probably taken at the same time.) According to the McCready list, William Acuff came from Texas and his son Arthur was born in the "thatched cottage on the river bank". The mother, named Mollie, "...who had apparently been something of a beauty in her younger days, abandoned the family before long, including Arthur..."
