"Brother John Watson was the guest of honor at a surprise party held in the
bakery on the evening of the eleventh, the occasion being his birthday
anniversary. A chicken dinner with all the trimmings was enjoyed by the
guests."

THE FLAMING SWORD; Community Current Events; October 1934: "Brother John
Watson has been relieved from his duties in the bakery after a long period of
faithful service. However, he continues to help Brother Franklin Jacke in the
store. Sister Carrie Peterson now has charge of the bakery, and she's giving
us some excellent whole wheat bread made from grain which is ground in our own
small grist mill. Sister Carrie is proving to be a most useful and likeable
addition to our community life."

Notes from Evelyn Horn: John Thomas Watson
John came to the Koreshan Unity at Estero in 1904 from Chicago. He was the
chief baker in the Koreshan Unity bakery. John would bake 200 loaves of
bread, three times a week. John also was clerk in the General Store.

Everyone loved John, a very friendly, jolly, person. He lived at the log
house with the brothers. He loved the warm sunny climate of Florida, coming
from a cold country of England. He would often sit in the sun in front of the
general store cleaning vegetables from the garden to sell in the store.

John died February 28, 1941, and was buried in the Koreshan cemetery. His
person was of a short stocky build, reddish brown hair and mustache. He had
blue eyes and always wore brown suits with tan shirts and ties.
