MEMORIES, MEMORIES--DAYS OF LONG AGO; chronicled by Marie McCready with participation by Lovelle McCready: Bio of the McCready family dedicated to William Frederick and Abigail Jeanette (Wallace) McCready. "I do not know what caused the beginning of his dissatisfaction for he had always been a very enthusiastic Koreshan and willing worker but, as he became more disgruntled and more outspoken against people and things, he, himself, came into general disfavor."--Page 86 "In addition to Pappa's duties at the printing office, here he read proof, as long as he could be up and around, he took on the bees."--Page 87

THE FLAMING SWORD, Community Current Events, Oct 1946, p. 10: "The following item is quoted from the American Eagle of August 29th: "William F. McCready an old-time resident of Estero, died Tuesday night after a lingering illness. He had been bedridden with arthritis for thirteen years and was in his 93rd year. Mr. McCready came, with his wife and family, to the Koreshan Unity, then in Chicago, from near Pittsburgh, Penna., in the early 1900's and for many years was secretary of the Corporation. Shortly after the turn of the century came to Estero when the colony moved its headquarters to Florida from Chicago. Mr. McCready was a man of high character and a valued member of the Unity for more than 50 years. He is survived by a son, William F. McCready, Jr., of Boston and four daughters, as follows: Mrs. Catherine Church, Estero, Fla; Mrs. J. M. Ahrano, and Mrs. F. M. McConnell of Tampa, Florida, and Mrs. Rosalie Campbell of New York City. Burial was in the local cemetery."

Notes of Evelyn Horn: Wm. F. McCready
"The McCready family joined the Unity in Chicago. They moved to the Koreshan home in Estero in 1903 with four daughters: Mrs. Catherine Church; Mrs. Rosalie Campbell of New York; Mrs. J. M. Ahrano, Tampa; Mrs. F. M. McConnell, Tampa; Son, Wm. F. Jr. of Boston, Massachusetts.

Catherine was the only one who returned to the Unity to care for her father about 1940. Wife Abbie died January 30, 1943 at Estero. They were Koreshan members for 50 years. William was a member of the Board of the Koreshan Unity serving as secretary in 1909. He was the bee-keeper for the Koreshan Unity, working and developing new bee-hives. In his ailing years, he was bedridden for 13 years with arthritis. He died at the age of 93 years on August 29*, 1946." (*Died August 20, 1946--Joyce Ratliff, January 2000)
