FLAMING SWORD--v.50, No.1, January 1936, p.13 -- "Brother Wilhelm Appel passed away on Saturday the fourteenth following a long illness and was interred in our local cemetery. Brother Wilhelm was born in Prussia, Germany, March 21, 1852, and came to this country as a young man and located in eastern Pennsylvania. About forty years ago he joined the Koreshan Unity in Chicago, Ill. and came to Estero in 1903 when the Chicago branch was consolidated with the Estero division. For many years he was in charge of our farm and especially the horses. He was an earnest and faithful follower of Koresh and for years had never been off the premises."

FOLKS WE KNEW WHILE IN THE K.U. by Marie McCready: Mack Arent; "Editor of the Flaming Sword at one time; married Genevieve Bisbee."
THE FLAMING SWORD; Community Current Events by Alafae Stephens; February 1934: "A party was given on the evening of the ninth by Miss Genevieve Bisbing, assisted by Miss Meta Monsees, at their home in Fort Myers, in honor of Brother Max Arendt, whose birthday anniversary it was. Contract bridge was played and prizes were awarded. The keen rivalry whetted the players' appetites so that full justice was done to the late supper served after the game. When such enjoyment is occasioned, one might be willing to have the anniversaries roll around more frequently--so long as they are Max's."

appreciate very much his many years of service and valued contributions to this
publication."

FLAMING SWORD, Vol.42, No.2, February 1928, p.14, From the "Community Current
Events" column -- During the holiday season we had the pleasure of a week's visit from Mr. Max E. Arednt of Milwaukee, which we enjoyed very much. We are publishing elsewhere in this issue his impressions of the Unity and how he enjoyed himself while here. We hope the day is not far off when he will cast his lot with us permanently, because he is convinced that this is the place to be. We are the recipient of a fine lot of pictures he took while in Estero, for which we are grateful. We often have requests for pictures of the Unity, and we hope to meet this demand by having some for sale soon, which we will announce later in THE SWORD.
