FOLKS WE KNEW WHILE IN THE K. U. by McCreadys and Vesta Newcomb; "The Acuffs came from Texas shortly before the birth of Arthur, who was born in the thatched cottage on the river bank. Mollie, who had apparently been something of a beauty in her younger days, abandoned the family, including Arthur, and left before long. Maude was one of those who died during the typhoid epidemic."

FOLKS WE KNEW WHILE IN THE K.U. by Marie McCready: (HOENSHELDT) Henry; From Oregon--Vesta Newcomb. Henry was killed while working at the sawmill.--William McCready. I remember Vera especially because of her cats. One of her favorites was fathered by a wildcat, and showed it in both his looks and actions.--a big, rangy, wild-eyed creature which would not make friends.
THE FLAMING SWORD; Community Current Events; April 1939; Page 13: On March 22, Sister Alvera Hohanscheldt passed away being nearly 91 years of age. She was born in Rockford, Illinois, and went to San Francisco, California, where she and her husband HENRY joined the California branch of the Koreshan community in 1891. In 1892 she and her husband came to the Koreshan community in Chicago and in 1894 came to Estero with a large group of Koreshans. HENRY was later killed in a sawmill accident. Sister Alvera had been confined to her room here as an invalid for a number of years. She had been in charge of the poultry farm.
